Summary: Rently stores your property and tenant data securely on your device and in your personal cloud account. We do not sell your data, share it with third parties for advertising, or use it for any purpose other than providing the app's functionality.
1. Information we collect
When you use Rently, we collect the following types of information:
Information you provide directly
- Property information (addresses, unit details, rent amounts)
- Tenant information (names, contact details, lease terms)
- Financial records (rent payments, expense receipts, deposit amounts)
- Account information (email address used to sign in)
Information collected automatically
- The app does not currently collect usage analytics or telemetry
- If the app crashes, error information may be captured by your device's operating system (iOS or Android) and shared with us only if you choose to send a crash report through the system prompt
Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your Social Security Number, tax ID, or financial account numbers
- We do not access your contacts, photos, or location unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature
- We do not collect payment card information — any in-app purchases are processed directly by Apple or Google
2. How we use your information
We use the information collected solely to provide and improve the Rently app:
- To store and sync your property management data across your devices
- To generate reports, alerts, and summaries within the app
- To send you notifications you have configured (such as lease expiry alerts)
- To respond to support requests
- To improve app features and fix bugs
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond providing the app's functionality.
3. Data storage and security
Your data is stored on your device and, if you enable sync, in a secure cloud database. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256).
Access to your data is protected by your device authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or PIN). We recommend keeping your device and the Rently app up to date to benefit from the latest security improvements.
4. Information sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the app (such as cloud infrastructure and crash reporting). These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any purpose other than providing their services to us.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to a valid legal process.
- Business transfers: If S4 Ventures L.L.C is acquired or merges with another company, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app's services. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app settings. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:
- The right to access the personal data we hold about you
- The right to correct inaccurate data
- The right to request deletion of your data
- The right to export your data in a portable format
- The right to opt out of non-essential data collection

7. Children's privacy
Rently is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice in the app or sending you an email. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
Continued use of Rently after changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
